Installing a NEMA 4X [enclosure cabinet](https://www.itsenclosures.com/IceStation-Titan-NEMA-4X-Computer-Cabinet-Workstation) - to house a computer and electronics - will keep the system working for many years to come. The beverage, food, and pharmaceutical industries, although primarily indoors, are challenging environments for electronics to exist and survive. A high pressure washdown, to reduce bacteria, utilizes harsh and abrasive cleaning solutions. Nevertheless, if not properly protected in a [NEMA 4X computer enclosure](http://www.itsenclosures.com/products/icestation/sloped_top_enclosures), these chemicals will wreak havoc on computer systems #### **3 Considerations for Choosing a NEMA 4X Enclosure for Washdown** ##### **[![ITSENCLOSURES NEMA 4X COMPUTER ENCLOSURE - TITAN Sanitary Leg Kit](https://blog.itsenclosures.com/hs-fs/hubfs/ITSENCLOSURES%20NEMA%204X%20COMPUTER%20ENCLOSURE%20-%20TITAN%20Sanitary%20Leg%20Kit.jpg?width=230&name=ITSENCLOSURES%20NEMA%204X%20COMPUTER%20ENCLOSURE%20-%20TITAN%20Sanitary%20Leg%20Kit.jpg)](https://www.itsenclosures.com/IceStation-Titan-NEMA-4X-Computer-Cabinet-Workstation)Specify an appropriately sealed industrial enclosure** With heavy-duty, stainless steel construction, a [NEMA 4X pc enclosure](http://www.itsenclosures.com/IceStation-Titan-NEMA-4X-Computer-Enclosure) will provide the necessary protection against harmful dust, dirt & hose-directed water. NEMA 4X airtight construction will also defend against detrimental corrosive materials. Enclosure features include quarter turn screwdriver style latches and durable gasket. ##### **Enclosure’s ability to be thoroughly cleaned to avoid microbial contaminants** Cleanliness, which defends against the contamination of goods, in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries is a necessity. As the article, ‘[Discover the Benefits of Stainless Steel](https://eagletube.com/resources/why-stainless-steel/),’ emphasizes, “The easy cleaning ability of stainless makes it the first choice for strict hygiene conditions, such as hospitals, kitchens and food processing plants.” Popular features that assist in the cleaning of stainless-steel computer cabinets, include lift-off hinges with removable pins, sanitary leg kits, and sloped surfaces to allow runoff during cleaning. ##### **Select the proper thermal management** Second to liquids, an excessivebuildup of heat could gravely damage a computer system, rendering it useless! Cooling technologies for [NEMA 4X enclosures](https://www.itsenclosures.com/IceStation-Titan-NEMA-4X-Computer-Cabinet-Workstation) include NEMA 4X heat exchangers, outdoor air conditioners, and vortex cooling assemblies. On the other hand, Heaters may also be installed in refrigerated plants to avoid condensation within the enclosure. ***In manufacturing, time is money!*** It is vital to maintain computer systems and keep them up and running no matter what environmental conditions may exist. It is rare that a company has the option to store computer systems, used for production, in a climate-controlled, clean office environment. Research the different types of [NEMA 4X computer enclosures](http://www.itsenclosures.com/Sloped-Top-Computer-Enclosures) available then choose a solution that will protect your investment and maximize the life cycle of your equipment. **For More Information:** **-- [Cleanliness and Computer Enclosures](https://blog.itsenclosures.com/blog/cleanliness-and-computer-enclosures)** **-- [NEMA 4X Computer Enclosures in Food Processing](https://blog.itsenclosures.com/blog/nema-4x-computer-enclosures-in-food-processing)** **-- Download the "[**Wash Down Dilemma**](https://info.itsenclosures.com/the-washdown-dilemma)" White Paper**   **HAVE QUESTIONS?  LET US KNOW HOW WE CAN BEST ASSIST YOU!
